Autumn term in Pine Class
This term our topic is 'Street Detectives' we will be learning about our community, looking at buildings old and new and finding out how our streets have changed since our mums and dads were young. We have already been to the local village to find out about Peaslake in the old days and we are very lucky to have Eleanor’s granny visiting soon to tell us even more information about the old and new buildings in Peaslake.
We will be writing and drawing maps and planning routes to school from our homes. We will also be learning and reciting some old nursery rhymes and writing instructions and directions.
A volunteer from Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance visited school to explain the role of the Air Ambulance Service and the important work they do, and we look forward to raising money over the year for this very worthwhile charity.
We have been making good use of our new outdoor area in the Autumn sunshine; building, digging and mixing materials. The children have learned new skills in adult-directed activities, but have also had extended time to learn through self-chosen activities. This has made the Badgers’ transition from Reception to Year 1 much more fun.
We are looking forward to celebrating Harvest Festival in October and our Nativity in December, which will both take place in St Mark’s Church, Peaslake.
After the half term holiday we will be getting ready for our second topic of the Autumn Term - Paws, Claws and Whiskers.
