Winter Highlights
As the winter season has crept up on us, we have been busy with exciting events and activities that have brought the school community together. Here's a look at some of the memorable moments from November and the beginning of December 2024.
Look Out Discovery Centre Trip
In November, our children had the opportunity to visit the Look Out Discovery Centre in Bracknell. This hands-on experience provided a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to explore and engage with interactive exhibits. From learning about physics through fun experiments to discovering the wonders of the natural world, the trip was both educational and exciting. The children loved exploring the exhibits, and it sparked curiosity and enthusiasm for learning!
Remembrance Day Commemoration
On Remembrance Day, the pupils participated in a ceremony at the Peaslake Memorial, where they laid a wreath to show their respect and remembrance. The children took this opportunity to learn about the importance of remembrance and the impact it has on our community.
AGM of Peaslake Schools Trust
In early December, the Peaslake Schools Trust hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM), where members of the community and parents were invited to hear about the exciting progress and achievements of our school and nursery. The evening was a wonderful opportunity to share the trust's goals, developments, and successes, and to build stronger connections between the school and the wider Peaslake community. We thank everyone who attended and contributed to the meeting.
Candlelight Fundraising Concert
On Saturday, December 7th, we were treated to a fundraising concert by candlelight at St Mark's Church. The event was a wonderful success, thanks to the talented musicians who performed, and our generous sponsors, including the Duke of Kent School. The atmosphere in the church was beautiful, with the candlelit setting creating a perfect backdrop for the performance. We would also like to extend our thanks to the parents who made and donated canapés, adding to the evening's charm. The concert was not only a celebration of music but also a testament to the support and community spirit that makes Peaslake Free School such a special place.
Forest School Christmas Tree Decorations
At our weekly forest school sessions the children have been getting into the holiday spirit by creating tree decorations from natural materials. These lovely creations will be hung on the village Christmas tree. It’s a great way to celebrate the season and the connection between our school and the wider village.
Crafting
Oak Class had a go at sewing, learning basic stitches and making their own lovely pouches and bags, while our fantastic parents organised a ‘Crafternoon’ for the children. They enjoyed painting ceramic decorations, creating Christmas cards, and putting together a festive collage.
The afterschool woodwork club had a wonderful time crafting beautiful table centrepieces to take home for Christmas. We’re sure their families will be delighted by the impressive skills the children have developed.
Nativity Rehearsals Underway
The excitement is building as our Nativity rehearsals continue in preparation for the much-anticipated performance on December 12th. Our pupils have been working hard on their lines, songs, and actions, and it promises to be a heartwarming event that families and friends won’t want to miss. We can’t wait to share the magic of the season with everyone in attendance! A great finish to the term.
Happy holidays from Peaslake Free School!
